Lesson 5: Suggested Family Activities
Pick a room in your home, while the children are not present, and rearrange several decor items. Casually invite your children into the room and see if they notice any changes. If they do, direct them to put things back the way they remember them. Then explain that because they were *aware* of their surroundings... and because they *know* where things were supposed to be, they were able to act (as discussed in the video lesson). Then explain how this relates to the work of antiracism. If they don't notice the rearrangement done to the room, even after prompting them, use it as an opportunity to talk about the importance of awareness and paying attention to our surroundings.
Pray aloud the Liturgy for Awareness as a family.
I hope you enjoy Lesson 5! I’ll see you this Friday for Lesson 6.
Sincerely,
Brytni
